The New London Big Band returns to The Social Bar & Kitchen with special guest Bryce Call!
The 17-piece New London Big Band brings the fun back to The Social Bar & Kitchen for their monthly residency! They celebrate a memorable 2023, which featured two performances at the legendary Birdland Jazz Club in New York City and a sold out two-night holiday performance here at the Social!
A versatile trumpet player, Dr. Bryce Call has performed in a wide variety of musical settings from big bands and jazz combos to chamber ensembles and orchestras. He has been fortunate enough to perform with Aretha Franklin, The Four Tops, the Bob Curnow Big Band the New London Big Band, the Marcus Lewis Big Band, and Joe McCarthy’s Afro Bop Alliance among others. He has also shared the stage and recording studio with trumpet greats Jon Faddis, Allen Vizzutti, Wynton Marsalis, Dave Douglas, and Rick Baptist. from 2016 to 2022 Bryce served as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Band playing lead trumpet with the Guardians Big Band and section trumpet in the Concert and Ceremonial bands.
Bryce is currently the Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Brass Division Coordinator at Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Prior to his appointment at Washburn, he taught at Eastern Connecticut State University. He also runs an active private trumpet studio.
Schedule: The band will perform two hour-long sets (6:30-7:30pm and 8:00-9:00pm). Both sets are Included with your ticket purchase.
Seating & dining: In order to provide you the best service possible, we have a variety of seating times for this show between 5:30pm and 6:30pm. Choose the ticket based on the time you'd like to be seated. We ask that you please arrive at the seating time on your ticket, so that we may give you proper service.
Tickets: $15 presale, $20 at the door on the day of the show. A service charge will be added to the ticket price.
